Earth Day is Saturday and there are lots of events happening around the valley to celebrate, but the City of Poughkeepsie is getting the party started this afternoon.

The City of Poughkeepsie will be hosting an outdoor Earth Day Festival near City Hall starting at 4 pm and it includes live music, food trucks selling all kinds of delicious things to eat, plus there will be sign up sheets so you can volunteer to clean up part of the city on Saturday.

There will be a free acoustic concert with Joe Louis, who has been nominated for a Grammy. Louis will be playing with Hudson Valley Blues legend Murali Coryell. These guys have performed together many times before.

There will be lots of music at today's festival. The Poughkeepsie Journal gives more info on who is playing.

Also performing will be Euro-American folk punk cabaret duo Frenchy and The Punk, spoken word artist Louis Corbet, the Strawberry Hill Fiddlers, Arlington High school band The Well Rounded, the Poughkeepsie Drumming Circle, and more.

On Saturday we are hoping that lots of people volunteer to do a little clean up work around the city. Volunteers are being asked to be on site at 10 am in their various wards to get the cleanup projects started. Check the City of Poughkeepsie Facebook page for more info.
