If you're anything like me, then you hate the idea of summer melting away and winter approaching. From ice cream to fireworks and fun in the sun or on the water, summer is my season. However, if you think of summer as a state of mind, you can enjoy it all year long, especially here in the Hudson Valley. So, while everyone else is talking fall foliage, wilderness hikes and apple picking, here are 5 ways to still get your summer on, as it officially draws to a close with the autumn equinox next Friday afternoon.

1. Have Fun In The Sun At A Local Water Park
School might be back in session, but water is still flowing (on the weekends) at one of the Hudson Valley's favorite family friendly water attractions. Yogi Bear's Water Zone swimming pools and interactive splash pad are still open into the middle of September on the weekends. Enjoy the water zone’s 40,000 square feet of sun-soaked fun with two 100-foot water slides, kiddie slides and more. Also don't forget their kid and adult swimming pools are still open as well as one is even heated! For all the information head to LazyRiverNY.com

2. You Scream, I Scream, We All Scream For Ice Cream!
Nothing screams summer quite like ice cream and while the temperatures are still warm make sure to check out Bellvale Farm's Creamery in Warwick. Open daily from April through October their creamery makes some of the finest homemade ice cream, ice cream cakes and even ice cream pies. Voted number two on the top 10 list of ice cream parlors in the United States by TripAdvisor, check out this non chain store delight. For more information head to BellvaleFarms.com.

3. Festivals Are Still Fun
Festivals are a staple of the summer season, so before you think summer is over make sure to check out the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival. Happening Saturday September 30th and Sunday October 1st, it kicks off both days at 10 a.m. in Saugerties. Like many summer festivals, this one will have live music performances, children's activities, a wide variety of vendors, art and food along with a farmer’s market. So don't let Summer go without enjoying one last festival--this fall. For all the details on the festival head to HVGF.org

4. Hudson River Is Still Happening
Hello! No one is closing the Hudson River for the season or its many activities that remind us of summer. Whether you want to take a tour of Pollepel Island, aka Bannerman Island or maybe set sail with the Beacon Sloop Club, there's still time to enjoy the Hudson River. The last tour of Bannerman Castle for the season will happen October 29th departing from Beacon at 2:30 p.m. The two-and-a-half-hour tour is sure to still remind you that summer isn't over just yet. Likewise, the last day to set sail with the Beacon Sloop Club for the season is October 31st. For more information about Bannerman Castle tours head to BannermanCastle.Org and check out the Beacon Sloop Club website which is: Beaconsloop.org.

5. Take Me Out To The Ball Game
Yes, if you hurry you can still enjoy the Hudson Valley Renegades. Come on, nothing says summer like taking in a baseball game while eating a hotdog. Our minor league is ‘In It to Win It!’ and they need your cheers as they are in the New York-Penn league playoffs. The last home game is September 13th at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill when they take on the Vermont Lake Monsters. If you can't make it to that game, don't worry you can still catch these bad boys in action when they're on the road to face off with the Lake Monsters in Burlington, Vermont over the following of days.
